1、 What is UK UKCA certification?
UKCA is the abbreviation of UK Conformity Assessed. On February 2, 2019, the British government announced the UKCA logo scheme that would be adopted in the absence of an agreement to leave Europe. This means that after March 29, trade with Britain will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). EU laws and regulations will no longer apply to the UK. UKCA certification will replace the CE certification currently implemented by the EU, and most products will be included in the certification scope. On January 31, 2020, the UK/EU Brexit Agreement was approved and officially entered into force. At present, the UK has entered the transition period of "Brexit" and will consult with the European Commission during this period. The transition period is scheduled to end on December 31, 2020. When the UK leaves the EU on December 31, 2020, the UKCA (UK Accreditation) mark will become the new UK product mark.
Will the UKCA logo be recognized in the EU?
may not. UKCA certification will not be recognized in the EU market. Products that currently require CE certification will continue to require CE certification before they can be sold in the EU. In order to continue to sell products in the EU, manufacturers headquartered in the UK will need authorized representatives to do so.
How to use the UKCA logo? How to place it?
In most cases, the UKCA logo must be used on the product itself or on the package. In some cases, it may be placed on manuals or other supporting documents. This will vary according to the specific provisions applicable to the product.
General applicable rules:
A. The UKCA logo can only be placed on the product by the manufacturer or authorized representative (if permitted by relevant laws and regulations);
B. When the UKCA mark is affixed, the manufacturer or authorized representative shall be fully responsible for the product's compliance with the requirements of relevant laws;
C. Only UKCA logo can be used to show that the product complies with relevant British laws;
D. The manufacturer or authorized representative cannot place any mark or mark on the product that may misunderstand the meaning or form of the UKCA mark to a third party;
E. Do not attach other marks on the product that affect the visibility, legibility or meaning of the UKCA mark;
F. Unless otherwise specified by law, the UKCA mark cannot be used on the product.
UKCA logo specification:
The letters in the UKCA mark must be scaled in proportion to the sign of the speaker.
The height of the UKCA logo shall be at least 5mm, unless the relevant laws stipulate different minimum dimensions.
The UKCA mark must be clearly visible (it must be permanently attached to the product from January 1, 2023).
For general products covered by the UKCA logo, the following transitional measures apply:
Before January 1, 2023, for most goods (except those subject to special rules), you can choose to paste the UKCA mark on the label with the product or attached documents.
Operators (whether manufacturers, importers or distributors) should take reasonable measures to ensure that the UKCA logo remains valid.
Products requiring UKCA mark cannot be provided without it (unless CE mark is used before January 1, 2022)
From January 1, 2023, the UKCA logo must be directly printed on the product in most cases, and the manufacturer should incorporate this date into the product design process.
The transitional measures of the UKCA logo are not applicable to the products with special regulations such as construction products, medical equipment, interoperability equipment of railway system and transportable pressure equipment.
